SIMPSON, Wilma Marcella Bailey, 99, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord on October 21st, 2025. Born on February 26, 1926, in Rosston, Nevada County, Arkansas.
Wilma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Troy. She is survived by daughter, Linda Reynolds and husband Ron; daughter, Brenda Sellers and husband Michael. She watched over four grandchildren: April Garrett, Jon Kelly, Christopher Sellers and Stephanie Sellers, and eight great grandchildren: Elijah, Gracie, Emma and Lainie Garrett, Brayden Pabst, Aurora Sellers, Sarah Lange, Emily Lange, and great great grandson, Colton Lange.
Wilma married Troy Simpson in Dallas, Texas on February 15th, 1946. When Troy retired in 1983, they loaded their fifth wheel trailer and traveled all over the United States. In 2005, after 60 years in Dallas, they moved back to Arkansas where they resided in Fairfield Bay.
Wilma lost her mother at the tender age of 18 months. She was the youngest of five siblings (three brothers and two sisters). Because of this, she learned at an early age to be resilient in life and in her faith. She was small in stature, but mighty in strength.
In high school, Wilma was on the girls' basketball team. They played half court basketball and she was a guard. Her love of basketball stayed with her all her life. She loved watching the Dallas Mavericks (particularly Dirk Nowitzki) and you could often hear her giving coaching advice from her front row seat in her living room.
Wilma dedicated her life to Christ and set an example for all of those who knew her. She was a member of Wheatland United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas for over 50 years. If she wasn't at home, you could always find her at church. She served on every committee, worked on the church grounds, scraped,
painted, and was happy to do any other chore that needed doing. She was a force to be reckoned with.
Most of all, she loved her family, Troy, Linda and Brenda, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She filled our lives with such joy and laughter. She was a shining example of steadfast faith and everlasting love. Wilma always said "we may not be rich in money, but we are rich in love". Our inheritance is their legacy of love. We are forever rich in love.
Our family is grateful to the nurses, CNA's and staff at The Springs of Fairfield Bay and Hospice for their loving care and support.
