Roger Dale Bates, 70, of Jerusalem, formerly of Boles, Arkansas, departed from this world on Sunday, May 4, 2025. He was born on November 3, 1954, in Mena, Arkansas, to Walker and Mary Lou Bates.
Roger was a loving husband, uncle, and friend. He was a Jehovah’s Witness and a self-made man who wore many hats over the years. Roger was a skilled carpenter, a shop mechanic, and a collector of just about anything that caught his eye (or might come in handy one day). He had a heart as big as the sky and a personality to match.
He was known for his kind nature, a good sense of humor, and just the right amount of ornery. Roger loved to laugh, loved his dogs like family, and always made time for fun. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Roger will be deeply missed by those who loved him and remembered for the joy, wisdom, and warmth he brought into their lives.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Brenda Bates; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and other family members.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Mary Lou Bates.
A gathering in his memory will be held at a later date.
