Roberta Maxine (York) Leonard

Roberta Maxine York Leonard, 90, of Damascus, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 15, 1932 in Morrilton, Arkansas to the late Robert and Audie York. Roberta worked in factories most of her life; when she wasn’t working or caring for the home, you could usually find her doing the two things she loved doing the most, quilting and talking on the telephone, which she thoroughly loved to do. Roberta was a wonderful mother and Mamaw, she will be greatly missed.

Mamaw or Bert to those closets to her is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jenette Bishop and Linda Newman; one sister, Bethel Doverstein (Gary); grandchildren, Blake Bishop, Misty Newman, Shane Newman (T.J.); great grandchildren, Baylee Baysinger (Matt), Briar Griffith, Brayden Newman, Madilyn Newman, Jack Newman; one great great grandson, Wyatt Gregg, and a very special friend and caregiver, Janet Mahan, as well as a host of friends and other family members. 

Roberta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Leonard; brothers, Mirril, Leo, Thirl, Jack, Elmo, Charles, and Wayne York; sisters, Bobbie Barrett, Dorothy Bridgeman, Faye Murry, Wilma Fuqua, and Kathleen Bevill.

Pall Bearers are Jerry York, Tommy Sims, Donnie Barrett, Shane Newman, Brownie Browning, Jonathan Stevenson.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ozark View Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Ozark View Funeral Home with brother Daniel Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Martinville Cemetery in Damascus.
