Ony Ware Obituary

Ony Ware, 80, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers.  He was born in Brewer, Arkansas on November 30, 1943, to the late Ray and Ollie Mae Shanks Ware.  Ony was the youngest of three children.  He attended Westside Greers Ferry school through the 9th grade.  He began 10th grade but joined his brother after turning 16 to work in a custom harvesting crew in the Mid-West. After working several years there, he came home and bought his first log truck as a young adult and was a logging contractor for the rest of his life.  He met his sweetheart, Barbara Ellen Witte and they married on August 24, 1968.  They made their home in Clinton and worked in the log woods together for several years.  Ony built a legendary reputation based on his work ethic and most contracts were sealed with a handshake.  He was well respected and sought after for logging jobs in the area. He was respected in the field and conducted business with honesty and integrity.

They welcomed their son, Shawn in 1970 and their daughter, Sherri in 1971.  Together they built a new home and began building the Rocking W Ranch in 1975.

He fulfilled a dream to cut timber in the New Mexico mountains one summer by taking his family with him for the experience.  Ony was a self-taught welder and excelled at this trade, much like his logging career.  Ony loved to deer and elk hunt and enjoyed time in Colorado on several trips with Barbara.  However, his favorite place to hunt was on his “homeplace” at Brewer with his family.

Ony is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elma Jean Cornett, his brother Donald “Doc” Ware; his grandchildren, Lane and Jake Wesson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Barbara Ware; children, Shawn Ware, Sherri (Kyle) Sanders; grandchildren Jessica Wesson, Will Wesson and Casey Ware and numerous friends and family.

Pallbearers are: Shawn Ware, Kyle Sanders, Will Wesson, Allen Ware, Scooter Keith, and Mike Cullum.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m., Monday January 29, 2024 at Ozark View Funeral Home in Clinton with Brother Mack Litaker officiating.  Burial will follow at Hunter Hill cemetery in Clinton.
