Nell Manasco Obituary

Trava Nell Manasco, lovingly known as Nell, passed away peacefully at her home in Fairfield Bay on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with her daughter by her side. She was 87 years old.

Born on September 10, 1937, in Fulton, Mississippi, Nell was the daughter of the late Troy and Lavelle Sanderson-Johnson. A dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Nell served as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She completed her 3-year training/ licensing program for registered nurse in May of 1960. Nell spent 20 of those years managing the Emergency Room in Helena, Arkansas, before transitioning to case management in Ruston, Louisiana, where she worked another 29 years.

Nell was a faithful member of Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach, Louisiana. Her heart for service was evident in the many years she spent working with children through the AWANAS program, as well as her passionate efforts to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, tireless service, and love for others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

 Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carla Coker of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Kurt Manasco (Courtney) of Helena, Alabama; one brother, Billy Johnson of Fulton, Mississippi; grandchildren, Michael Joshua Coker (Leah Dowda) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Christina Frances Manasco Kuhn (Joe) of Crowley, Texas, Joseph Dean Manasco of College Station, Texas; nieces and nephews, Dina Johnson, Reid Johnson; Five grand nieces, one grandnephew and many other friends and family.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Dell Manasco; sister, Gena Johnson Wilburn and niece, Sharon Thunderburk.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach, Louisiana with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and service following at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Larry Bullock officiating and speaker, Brother Eddie Wayne Simmons.
