Michael Jeffrey Sweeney

Michael Jeffrey Sweeney, 73, of Shirley, Arkansas, departed from this world on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was born November 15, 1950 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late John Patrick Sweeney Sr. and Margaret Ruth Hinesley-Sweeney.

Michael was of the Catholic faith and served in the United States Army. He often enjoyed reading about history, cheering for Notre Dame Football, and spending time outdoors. Michael also enjoyed watching the local basketball team play; in his younger days, he played high school basketball himself. Michael was always the kind of person who, if he knew you, he loved you. He was always ready to help anyone in need, even if it meant giving them the shirt off his back.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, John Sweeney and wife Pam of Mt. View, Margaret Theresa King and husband Larry of Quitman, James Timothy Sweeney of Mt. View, Henry Jonathon Sweeney of Fifty-Six, Erin Elizabeth Sweeney of North Little Rock, Mary Kathleen Hartman of Greenbrier, Patricia Ann Caston of Mt. View; special friends, Teresa and Daniel Radke and Katie Hickman of Shirley as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other family members.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jessica Easley.

A private gathering will be held at a later date.
