Mark Allen Shawl, 59, of Clinton, departed from this world at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023. He was born on December 2, 1963 in Fontana, California. There he enjoyed years of playing soccer and baseball with several successful little league teams. In his later teen years, Mark moved to Arkansas with his mother and siblings and going on to graduate from Shirley High School and later joining the Air Force.
After the Airforce, Mark attended nursing school and went on to work as a nurse in Clinton at the local nursing home and then shortly thereafter going on and working for Baptist Health in Little Rock for several decades before recently switching to Baptist Health in Conway, Arkansas.
Over the years, Mark made lasting friendships with people he met during his education and his work. He never met a stranger and was one of the most beloved young nurses during his time working at the nursing home in Clinton. His sense of humor wasn’t always for everyone but he had a gift for making tough situations in his profession a little more bearable.
All of those who knew him will agree that you never had to wonder what he was thinking. His family hopes he will be remembered for his sense of humor, his natural talent for nursing, and most of all for his tenacious spirit.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Gisele Griggs-Shawl; his children, Kali Shawl-Tester (Wylie) and Tomi Shawl (Kaitlyn); grandchildren, Adleigh Lambeith, Huck Tester, Atlas Shawl, and Everleigh Shawl; brother in-law, Danny (Donna) Griggs and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in-law, and his niece, Kayla.
Pall Bearers are Luke Griggs, Chad Brown, Wylie Tester, Sam Brown, Tomi Shawl, and Danny Griggs.
