Leokadia “Kadie” McElwain, 84 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away at her home on August 1st, 2024.
Kadie was born in Poland on March 12, 1940, the daughter of Thomas and Eufrozyna (Rose) Rokosz. Her family immigrated to America and settled in Fort Madison, Iowa. Kadie attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa which led to her career in the field of fashion design. She married the love of her life, William McElwain in Chicago, IL on September 17, 1977. They had a long and happy marriage that was admired by many. They moved to Fairfield Bay Arkansas and built their own piece of paradise. Kadie enjoyed caring for her home and yard, boating on the lake, traveling, reading in her sunroom, cooking in her kitchen, and feeding her hummingbirds. She loved spending time with her extended family. She was an adamant and loyal follower of Jesus and was devoted to her faith. Kadie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Kadie was preceded in death by her husband William McElwain, who is now by her side in heaven. As well as her parents Thomas and Eufrozyna (Rose) Rokosz, brothers Bogush Rokosz and Constantine Rokosz, nephew Thomas Reinart, and great nephew Willam Judd Reinart.
Kadie is survived by her sister Balbina “Bobbie” Reinart (Bob), stepchildren Marjorie Frank (Mike), David McElwain (Mary Jo), and Angela McElwain, four step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Catholic mass will be held at 11 am, on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. A rosary will be held before the mass at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the SPCA.
