Lefern Hennessee, 97, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at her home in Old Lexington. She was born to Lummy and Mandy Harness Reeves on June 14, 1926.
Lefern was a hard worker and was employed at a number of jobs in and around Van Buren County, but her most important job was always that of wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church for over eighty years.
She is survived by a son Michael Hennessee (Diane) and a daughter, Jan Hennessee, both of Clinton; three grandchildren, Dayna (Luke) Collard of Guy, Keri (Kenneth) Wyatt of Clinton and Aaron (Jennifer) Hennessee of Wooster. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a wealth of family and friends.
Lefern is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; son, James David; four sisters, Mereva Reeves, Audra Martin, Irene Sowell, and Yvonne Vaughan.
Pall Bearers are Luke Collard, Kenneth Wyatt, Aaron Hennessee, Tony Sowell, Chuck Sowell, Larry Fairfield.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Darrell Horton, Jimmy Branum, Lenny Joe Newman, Gilbert Lasater, Dean Bonds, Tommy Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lexington Cemetery Fund.
A graveside service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, May 11, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Lexington Cemetery with Reverand Danny Brown and Reverand John Doyle officiating.
