Joyce A. Lance-Kleedorfer, 91, of Clinton, Arkansas, departed this world on Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was born on March 9, 1934, in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Edward Lance and Floy Sauce-Rice.
Joyce lived a full and remarkable life, rooted in her love of family, faith, and the simple joys of the world around her. She had a deep passion for horses—some might say an obsession—and a special fondness for being outdoors in nature. Her church family was an anchor for her, providing fellowship and strength throughout her years, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Family was the heartbeat of Joyce’s life. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially her youngest great-granddaughter, Olivia, who was her “partner in crime.” Whether sneaking her sweet treats, snuggling up for cartoons, or swinging side by side at the playground, Joyce and Olivia shared a bond filled with laughter and love.
Gifted with a natural talent for working with animals, Joyce could train a dog like no one else, always raising the most well-mannered companions. She also loved music—particularly old hymns—and she had a beautiful singing voice that lifted spirits and touched hearts.
Joyce was a woman of grit and resilience, surviving hardships that would have broken the strongest of men. Though she could be tough and outspoken, her intentions came from a place of love and strength. She was not one to be trifled with, yet she had a generous, giving heart that never hesitated to help those in need.
She was a devoted wife who dearly loved her husband, a faithful servant of Jesus, and a proud matriarch whose legacy of perseverance and love will live on in her family. Joyce was also an extraordinary baker, creating elaborate cakes fit for royalty—though she humbly charged far less than they were worth. Alongside her husband and son, she once helped run a family restaurant and catering business, pouring her love of food and service into the community.
Joyce’s life was a testimony to faith, strength, love, and generosity. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, her stubborn streak, her devotion to family, and her boundless heart.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Jody Rozelle Zavatchen (Adam), and Frances Anderson Buchanan (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Hailey Adair, and Oliva Zavatchen, Matthew Buchanan, Logan Buchanan; Joe Kleedorfer and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Joyce is preceded in death by her Parents, Edward Lance and Floy Sauce-Rice; husband, Robert Charles Kleedorfer; siblings, Dorance Lance, Jay Keith Lance, and Jean Lance-Lomerson
A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Clinton, on Saturday, September 6, 2025 with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and service following at 3:00 p.m. with Brother Mack Litaker officiating.
