James (Jim) Kirk Obituary

James (Jim) Raymond Kirk, known for his loving spirit, quick humor and big personality, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a hard and courageous battle with cancer on January 9, 2025. He was surrounded by his family, when he first saw Jesus, after living a long and fulfilling life.

He was born in Chicago, IL on April 16, 1943 to Charles John Kirk and Verada Milton Cook Kirk. After the passing of his father, when Jim was three years old, his mother moved he and his two brothers back to the family farm on Banner Mountain in Clinton, AR. During his childhood on the farm, Jim learned the importance of hard work, family and dedication—values that he carried with him throughout his life and passed down to his children and grandchildren.

He graduated Clinton High School in 1961, and afterwards, met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Lorraine Harness Kirk, in 1965. Throughout their 60 years together, Jim and Evelyn raised a beautiful family rooted in faith, while making a permanent mark on the lives of their friends and their community.

Jim worked as a lineman and construction foreman at Petit Jean Electric for 38 years. After retiring in 1999, Jim and Evelyn built their forever home on the childhood farm that was always dear to his heart. He spent the last decades of his life on the farm doing what he truly loved best: gardening, playing dominoes, riding his side-by-side, and sharing time with his family.

Jim was known for his untiring love and loyalty to his friends and family, which knew no bounds.  He was a loving husband, father, and Paw-Paw—a truly beautiful soul who would help anyone.

Although Jim is gone from this earth, he will live forever in our hearts.

Preceded in joining the Lord; his father Charles John Kirk, mother Verada Milton Cook Kirk Bradford, step-father J.D. Bradford, brother Charles Richard Kirk and his precious dog Whiskers, who was his best buddy on the farm.

His legacy will always live on for those he has left behind; his wife of almost 60 years, Evelyn Harness Kirk of Clinton, AR, a brother Jerry Kirk of Nacogdoches, TX. Three children; daughter Tannya Kirk Graham of Clinton, AR, son Stacy Kirk of Clinton, AR, and son Matt Kirk of Dallas, TX. Seven grandchildren; Brandon Graham of Atkins, AR, Ashley Kirk Flickinger of Hattieville, AR, Corey Graham of Conway, AR, James Tyler Kirk of Little Rock, AR, Dalton Jackson of Glenwood, AR, Chase Kirk and Emily Kirk Amos, both of Clinton, AR

He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Karson, Kurt and Klay Flickinger, Kacer, Karmyn and Kash Graham, Cooper and Kip Jackson and Sutton Wait.
