James Watts Obituary

James Deloran Watts, 82, of Marshall, departed from this world on Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was born September 3, 1941 in Marshall, Arkansas to the late Rex Watts and Willie Deborah “Dee” Treadwell-Watts.

Deloran spent the majority of his life in Marshall. He worked several jobs in his lifetime such as working in a cotton gin in California, he was a rock hauler and logger, drove a truck for Flint Rock Shirt Factory and Altell Phone Company where he later retired from. He was also a member of the East Lawn Freewill Baptist Church there in Marshall.

Deloran was first united in marriage to Dorothy Sutterfield, and together, they were blessed with two wonderful daughters. Later in life he married Maria Anna Smith, and together they had a son and he also gained three step-children.

Deloran had a great love for the outdoors. Whether it was casting a line into one of his many favorite fishing holes, embarking on coon hunting adventures, trail riding with horses and mules, or enjoying the simple pleasures of wagon riding and camping in the forest. He also had a great love for his family and friends; he always enjoyed when others came to visit him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lisa Drew and husband Terry, Angelia Jones and Robbie, both of Clinton; step children, Eddie Smith of Conway, Tony Smith of Mountain View, Peggy Ann Smith and husband James of Genoa; siblings, Gerald Watts and wife Joyce, Merlene Freeman; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

Deloran is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Dee Watts; wife, Maria Anna Watts; one son, James Kirk Watts.
