George Neil Morton

George Neil Morton, 74, of Clinton, Arkansas, passed away from his earthly home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He was born on August 17, 1950, the son of the late Russell Morton and Betty (Jim) Moore.

In his youth, George was a life guard on Petit Jean Mountain and worked with the youth at his church. After graduation, George served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 until receiving an honorable discharge.

On December 31, 1975, George married the love of his life, Debi Copeland-Morton. George worked as a logistics manager at UALR until he retired in 1992. After retirement, George and Debi moved to Chimes, Arkansas to enjoy their retirement together.

George loved to be outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing when he could. He quickly joined the volunteer fire department and later went on to become an EMT. George was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Chimes and even though retired, George became the Veterans Service Representative for Searcy County for over 10 years; he would assist Veterans and always made sure that our service men and women were taken care of.

He leaves behind his wife Debi Morton; three children, Tony Morton of Little Rock, Shellie Ming of Little Rock and Josh (Jessica) Morton of Center Ridge; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents and one grandson, Kyle Ming.

The family will hold a graveside service at a later date.
