Gail Carlo Obituary

Our friend and neighbor, Gail Francis Carlo went to heaven on December 13, 2022 at his home in Fairfield Bay, AR, with his wife of 63 years, Jacki Carlo, by his side.

He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on March 1,1938 to Charles and Carolyn Carlo where he lived until moving to Fairfield Bay in 1986. Gail attended Bloomfield (IA) High School, driving the school bus as a junior, then moved to Ottumwa High his senior year, where he graduated in 1956. He worked as a tool and die maker at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years. After moving to AR he began designing for several companies using a CAD program. His best career was working his honey do list, being a grandfather, and available as a servant to everyone. He stayed active until his last day, often working in his Man Cave workshop and doing various projects around their home

Survivors are his wife, Jacqueline J Nelson Carlo,  a son, Douglas Adam Carlo (Clara), a daughter, Denise Ann Carlo Scott (Rick), a son, David Andrew Carlo (Sherri) and a daughter, Lizabeth Ann Carlo, Siblings: Carolee Ruby (Jr), Rosalee Lunsford (Don), Clark Carlo (Judy), Jerrllee Nelson, Adrian Carlo, Phillip Carlo (Carol), and Fred Carlo (Delores). Grandchildren: Michael (Tish), Jaclyn, Matthew, Abigail, Caleb, Logan, Alicia (Karl), Summer, Sage and Mckinsey, four great granddaughters: Kate, Kallie, Harper and Eleanor and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Merrill, James (Aldonna) and Roger (Bonnie) and granddaughter, Shalynn Marie Carlo.

Gail was a Godly man whom everyone could count on, steadfast, and caring . Whether he was babysitting the youngest grandkids, teaching a grand how to use a wrench or power tool, serving at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church, or lending a listening ear, Gail was always available for those he loved. He was the rock for his family, never missing a moment to share God's love.

Gail is spending Christmas in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, but we will miss his stories, his jokes, and his joyful whistling. We will miss his sound advice and his helpful hand. We will even miss watching football and YouTube videos with him.

A Celebration of his life will be on December 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church sanctuary.  Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.
