Evelyn Link Obituary

Evelyn Ferne Link, 79, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, passed away on March 14th, 2024, at Conway Regional Hospital. Evelyn was born on September 27th, 1944, to Walter Link and Grace (Bittner) Link in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1963, was a talented basketball player and well-liked by her classmates. Evelyn continued her education at the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton, Arkansas.

For numerous years Evelyn worked for Beldon, Conagra and CHDC. Even during what should have been her retirement, she went to work at the Fish House in Bee Branch, Arkansas, until its closing. Evelyn's farm upbringing ingrained within her a profound reverence for the land, placing the welfare of livestock above her personal comfort, alongside a steadfast work ethic that defined her character. Additionally, she acquired the invaluable traits of resilience, gratitude, and resourcefulness, exemplified by her ability to mend and make do with what was available. With a remarkable green thumb, she possessed the knack for nurturing even the most forlorn plants back to life. Evelyn's compassion and kindness extended towards all creatures, evident in her dedicated care for sick and injured animals throughout the years.

Her cherished Bible was a testament to her covenant and commitment in studying God’s Word. Numerous handwritten notes are within the Bible’s pages, and they will be forever cherished by her family. Those notes are a reminder of her devotion, which brings comfort and assurance, knowing she is at peace in Heaven.(Galatians 6:7  “…the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”)

Evelyn is survived by her one daughter, Melissa Louise (Bee Branch, Arkansas); three grandsons; Trey Hinchey (Conway, Arkansas), Colter Hinchey (Jonesboro, Arkansas), and Seth (Kristen) Bradley (Russellville, Arkansas); great granddaughter, Eleanor Bradley; brothers, Richard (Linda) Link and David Link (De Moines, Iowa); sister, Kathy Link (Des Moines, Iowa); best friend, Sheila Buechler (Ames, Iowa), as well numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wilda Link; and brother, Ira Link.
