Donald Skinner Obituary

Donald Dean Skinner, 86, of Shirley, Arkansas, departed from this world on Sunday, October 23, 2022. He was born May 22, 1936 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Charles Skinner and Velma Parker. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps he served during the Korean War as a Field Radio Operator and earned the “National Defense Service Medal.” After transitioning out from the Marine Corps, Donald went on to pursue a career as a mechanical engineer for the FFA and then later on he married the love of his life Evalene Skinner on July 1, 1960.

He loved everyone and never met a stranger. Donald was always someone you could count on to lend a helping hand to anyone who would need it; he always made sure his friends and family were taken care of. He was strong in his faith and in the church. Donald will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Evalene Skinner; children, Kimberly Manville Thomas, and Jill Alene Armstrong; one sister, Marilyn Lindsey; grandchildren, Kelly VanHook, Kala Fultz, Aaron Armstrong, Adam Armstrong, Ashley Baker, Bryce Myers, Tyler Myers, and Bridgette Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Dyllin and Cody VanHook, Chloe and Bailey Armstrong, William, Beckett, Peyton, Dakota Armstrong, Aiden Armstrong, Hope Baker, Valary and Abigail Mitchell, McKenzie and Landon Myers; nieces and nephews, Pamela Kennedy, Jan Keiley, Cheri Burg, Ralph Lindsey, Christy Anderson, Donna Williamson, Terri Berks and many other friends and family members.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deborah D. Myers; sister, Deloris Christianson; two nephews, David and Steven Christianson.
