Crystal Lee LaForge, 69, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, departed from this world on April 8, 2023. She was born on March 2, 1954, in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Sarah Smith and Wallace G. Yates.
At the age of four her family moved to Steel, Missouri where she attended South Pemiscot until her family moved to Fredericktown, Missouri during her junior year. After graduating, Crystal attended the Southeast Missouri University. After one year of college, she enlisted in the United States Army in 1974. After spending some time in Army, she decided to re-enlist and was stationed in the Azores where she met her future husband, Kenneth LaForge. Crystal and Kenneth were married for 44 years. The Azores was one of their favorite places to live.
After their retirement, they moved to the state of Washington. Her nieces and nephews became their children. They flew them to Washington where they took them to all the famous spots in Seattle. Crystal loved church, she sung in the choir, worked with the teens and even took them to church camp. Crystal was a giver, never met a stranger and was extremely generous.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Wallace Yates and wife Mona of Fairfield Bay, Paul W. Yates and Claude G. Yates both of Massachusetts; Aaron Yates, Kelcey Yates, Jocelyn Cockrell (Kedrick), Raven, Brayden, Thaddeus, Silas, Journey and many other friends and family members.
Crystal is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth LaForge; parents, Sarah Smith and Wallace G. Yates; step-father, Earl Smith.
