Carla Dawson Hogan, 68, of Clinton, departed from this world on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Everett A. Sallee Sr. and Connie Todd Sallee.
Carla's journey in healing began at the Baptist Medical School, where she pursued her passion for nursing, a calling that would define her legacy. After graduating, she embarked on a career as a Registered Nurse, touching countless lives with her skilled hands and tender heart.
For years, Carla graced the corridors of Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, where her presence in the coronary care unit and the Cath lab brought solace to many. Her gentle demeanor and incomparable commitment endeared her to patients and colleagues alike. In every interaction, Carla possessed an innate ability to make others feel cherished and valued—a true gift that illuminated even the darkest of days.
In her final years of nursing, Carla found profound fulfillment in hospice care, where she offered comfort and companionship to those navigating life's most challenging moments. Her dedication to easing suffering and bringing peace to those suffering was nothing short of extraordinary.
Beyond her life’s work Carla found peace in nature. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she reveled in the beauty of the world around her, finding serenity in it. Her love for animals knew no bounds, and she was seldom seen without a faithful canine companion by her side. However, it was her cherished horse, Miracle, affectionately known as "the wonder horse," that held the most special place in her heart.
Carla Dawson Hogan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher and Patrick Dawson; one sister, Sue Sallee-Giles and husband Joe; grandchildren, Kenndy, Addison, Payne, Sage, and Spencer Dawson; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Carla is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Everett A. Sallee Jr. and Eddie Sallee.
A special thank you to Cheryl Vanwinkle, Sherry Dobbins, and Olas Allen for all of their love, care, and support. Another special thank you goes out to Carti, Dr. Thomas Sneed and nurse Rikki and Nurse Rebecca Dieckmann with Hospice.
