Bobbie Hunter Obituary

Bobbie Gene Hunter, 77, of Clinton, departed from this world on February 15, 2024. He was born December 15, 1946 in San Jose, California to the late Imojean Wehunt and Bobbie D. Hunter. He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Wehunt in Hotsprings, Arkansas till the age of 12 when he was sent to live with his mother and her new husband, Arthur Meekins whom he always considered to be his dad.

Bobbie was a Vietnam era Marine Corp war veteran; he served from 1964 to 1968. After the Marine Corps, he made a living fixing starters and alternators at F&M Rebuilders; a small rebuilder shop for 35 years. Many folks referred to Bobbie as “Starter Bob”, “Alternator Bob”, or “Red”. He loved to visit with people, go fishing with his nephew, garden, and ride his four wheelers.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Melanie “Mel”; sister, Cheryl Roberson; three brothers, James Dennis, Bill Dennis, Arthur Meekins; cousin, Donald Wehunt of Cottonwood, California; his nephew, Jeremiah Dennis whom he considered more of son than a nephew; one son, Robert Hunter; nieces, Beth Dennis and Becky Dennis; great nephew, Jeremiah Dennis Jr.; two great nieces, Gemeni Dennis and Alicia; four grandchildren and a host of friends and other family members.

Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents; step father; brother, Jasper Meekins; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Hunter.
