Bessie Viola Dawson

Bessie Dawson left this earth peacefully on December 24, 2021 to reside eternally with her heavenly Father. Bessie was born on January 13, 1940 in Fillmore, Oklahoma. Her parents were Sherman and Alice Dawson. She was one of 5 children.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Dawson and Jessie Foshee, and one brother Sherman Dawson. She is survived by her sister Betty (Rodney) Ferguson of Loyalton, California, her “adopted” family Adam, Darla, Sammy, Lacey Belle, and Katie McJunkins, and the whole Pronia family, all of Dennard.

Bessie was a banker for most of her life. She worked for Bank of America in California. She prided herself in always making sure that her work was accurate. Top customers of the bank, and even the top executives of the bank, often requested her specifically for items that needed to be taken care of because they knew she would do it right. She had many responsibilities at the bank but the majority of her work was in the lending department. Later in years, she moved to Arkansas to live with her sister Jessie in Dennard. She began working at the shirt factory and then later worked at Wal-Mart.

Bessie loved to read, bowl, work crosswords, play games, garden, and visit with her friends. You would often find her outside on her porch enjoying a cigarette and waving at the passing people. Above all things, her favorite thing was spending time with the McJunkins girls.

Bessie loved to talk, laugh, and love. She lived every day to the fullest and will be missed by her community. Bessie’s memorial service will be on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Ozark View Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas at 10:00 a.m.
